THE BRAND
LIA ANJALI is a luxury house founded on an exploration of heritage through proportion, abstraction and craft.
British and Indian design traditions are brought into a single visual language, where familiar references are reduced, reworked and reconstructed through line, scale, repetition, balance and proportion.
At the centre of this approach is mathematical abstraction, a way of translating heritage, allowing form, rhythm and structure to carry reference harmoniously.
Indian craftsmanship forms part of the foundation of the house, carrying an inherited understanding of material, handwork, ornament and the significance of dressing. Alongside this sits the precision and restraint associated with British dress, expressed through cut, proportion and the construction of silhouette. Neither exists as a separate influence. The interest lies in the relationship between them, and in how that relationship continues to evolve within a contemporary culture where references, identities and ways of dressing are increasingly fluid.
Form is established before surface. Fabric is considered for its weight, movement and behaviour on the body. Embellishment is introduced to define a line, alter proportion or create rhythm to the garment.
LIA ANJALI was founded to establish a distinct point of view, one in which Indian craft can be engaged with and developed through a contemporary design language.
Precise in silhouette, considered in construction and instinctively informed by the relationship between Indian craft and Western dress, LIA ANJALI is a contemporary expression of heritage through form, proportion and craft.
